Failure of veiling in Iran




Shortly after the revolution, the Iranian government strove to impose the veil on Iranian women in a bid to get them covered up. Yet, Iranian women have consistently pushed the boundaries of what is permissible and have added colours and style to their veil and their mandatory “manteau”. So much so that despite the threat of the Morality Police, Iranian women have turned this mandatory clothing into a mere fashion accessory.
